Veterinarian, Director/Shareholder of NSVets

Born: Ipswich, Australia (moved to New Zealand in 2000)

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science, University of Queensland 1999
  • Initial Investigating Veterinarian for Exotic Disease Outbreaks

Areas of Interest: Mike is a true jack-of-all trades who excels at many aspects of veterinary medicine, in both the clinic and out on farm.

Who Am I? Mike has been in Riversdale since 2000 with a brief break in Europe. He was born and educated in Australia but grew up overseas. He is married to Natalie who, in true Southland style, has several relatives in the district. They have a lifestyle block just outside of Riversdale with a menagerie of animals including two naughty miniature schnauzers Mimi and Lulu. As part of his exotic disease outbreak training through the Ministry of Primary Industries, Mike visited Nepal in 2016 to study the devastating impact of foot-and-mouth disease on farming communities. In the event of a disease outbreak in Southland, Mike would be the initial investigating officer on the scene to assess the situation.
