Mossburn will remain closed at this stage but we remain hopeful that we can open it on Monday the 25th of May.

Please continue to be patient and supportive at this time, we are doing our best to provide the services you have come to expect from us whilst maintaining the safety of everyone involved.

We take our responsibility as an essential service very seriously and regard it is as a privilege that we are able to remain trading in support of you all. We remain committed to providing a service for you, your pets and businesses, but at the same time want to do our best to protect your families and the greater community from this virus.

Under alert level 3 we have increased the range of services available to our clients, with an emphasis on tasks that can be performed safely. This will include non-essential companion animal and equine services that can be performed whilst maintaining social distancing. It is likely that we will be able to offer services such as blood testing, some routine surgeries (i.e. castrates and speys) and dentals. For production animal services, we envisage that most tasks can be performed, but we will continue to maintain safe working distances between our staff and yours.
However, for all species, some tasks may not be performed due to individual circumstances, so provision of services will remain on a case-by-case basis following a discussion by phone.

Based on advice we have received from the New Zealand Vet Association and Vet Council of New Zealand we have taken steps to reduce the risk to you, our staff and their families. This is essential if we are to play our part to protect the community and public of New Zealand.
Whilst we remain at level 3 the doors at the clinic are likely to remain closed. Patients visiting the clinic will continue to be taken by the vet/nurse from owners in the car park. We kindly ask that you wait in your car until your pet is ready to be returned. As always our vets will be available to answer any questions and to discuss any concerns you may have. In certain instances we may be able to dispense medications without a visit, but this will require a thorough phone consultation and may also require photos or video to aid our diagnosis.

On the retail front, we have plenty of stock available including animal health treatments, minerals, vaccines and pet food. For special orders there may be a small delay but we should still be able to meet all of your needs. We are discouraging people from coming to the clinic and are instead offering our free delivery service for most orders. We should be able to deliver within 1 - 2 days of your request, please ensure you order everything you need for the immediate future to avoid unnecessary repeat trips. If you need something urgent please call us to arrange for pick-up.

If you have any questions regarding a case or service please feel free to call us and discuss it with one of our vets. Be assured that where any service is postponed we will review this regularly and remain in contact with you as the situation changes.

Stay safe out there and thank you for your understanding and patience during this time, we are all in this together.

Regards,
The team at NSVets

We take our responsibility as an essential service very seriously and regard it is as a privilege that we are able to remain trading in support of you all. We remain committed to providing a service for your pets and businesses, but at the same time want to do our best to protect your families and the greater community from this virus.

Due to the ever changing situation we are faced with, we are constantly being updated with what we can offer as an essential service and what services we should postpone. As such, it is important to remember that it is not business as usual and it would be irresponsible of us to think this way. A veterinary clinic has recently had to close due to a case of covid-19 within their staff, we do not want this to happen to us.

Based on advice we have received from the New Zealand Vet Association and Vet Council of New Zealand we have taken steps to reduce the risk to you, our staff and their families. This is essential if we are to play our part to protect the community and public of New Zealand. Consequently we have scaled back the services we are offering to only those that are essential and cannot be postponed.

For companion animals and equine our services will be limited to only those that are deemed absolutely necessary. This will be predominantly emergency work but may include some other services that cannot wait for animal welfare reasons. The clinic doors will be closed and clients will not be allowed into the clinic, please wait outside to be seen. As always our vets will be available to answer any questions and to discuss any concerns you may have. In certain instances we may be able to dispense medications without a visit, but this will require a thorough phone consultation and may also require photos or video to aid our diagnosis.

Production animal (farm) services will also be limited to essential tasks only. This will include all emergencies and sick animals but may not include services such as blood testing and dehorning, especially where these can be delayed. Services such as pregnancy testing will be considered on a case-by-case basis in consultation with you and will be dependent on your individual situation. Consultations, in particular milk quality reviews and restricted veterinary medicine consults, will continue to take place but by phone only.
